Project Distributes Protective Wear to Animal Health Workers in Karamoja, Teso and Sebei Sub Regions
Veterinary doctors and other animal care workers are at risk of exposure to zoonoses and infectious diseases that spread from animals to humans. Occupational health and safety is an integral component of comprehensive animal care. Possible routes of transmission include aerosol, droplet spray, ingestion (oral), direct contact and indirect contact. It is important to mitigate the risk of exposures of animal care personnel to allergens and physical, chemical, radiologic, and biologic hazards during the conduct of various tasks.
Today the project distributed protective wear(gum boots , overalls, gloves and huts)and bucket spray pumps to the project districts of Kumi, Kween, Amudat, Amuria, Abim, Kaabong, Nakapiripirit, Moroto, Napak, Kween, Katakwi and Bukedea .The beneficiaries of these items include, communal cattle crush spraying groups, communal breeding groups and community animal health workers. These are to enhance veterinary services in the project area.
