Complaints handling and grievance redress mechanism workshop
The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries under the Regional Pastoral Livelihoods Resilience Project (RPLRP) in collaboration with the Inspectorate of Government is meant to establish a Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) where it does not exist or strengthened/refined/adapted to the project where it exists locally. The GRM is a strategy to mitigate social risks in the implementation of the RPLRP. There was need to bring together stakeholders from the project districts who form the District Grievance Committee for a two days’ workshop which took place on 13th to 15th March 2017 at Ridar Hotel, Seeta; to discuss the GRM and its establishment at the Lower Local Governments.
The purpose of the workshop was to:Sensitize the participants about the GRM as established in the project districts under the RPLRP;To equip participants/stakeholders with complaints handling and grievance redress techniques indicating their roles and responsibilities;To indicate to participants the role of the Inspectorate of Government in Complaints Handling and Grievance Redress under the RPLRP; and draw a plan for the GRM at lower levels as a way-forward.The workshop registered about 84 participants in number, excluding facilitators and support staff.
